UnCommon Law’s How We Help - Sending Solidarity

How We Help - Sending solidarity to folks inside prison

Virtual volunteer event

About this event

There are over 200,000 people serving life sentences in America today.

In California alone, roughly a third of the state's prison population - over 35,000 people - are sentenced to life behind bars. The vast majority are survivors of significant trauma, often experienced as children.

UnCommon Law supports people serving these kinds of sentences through trauma-informed legal representation, mental health counseling, legislative and policy advocacy, and in-prison programming led by those who have been through the process themselves.

Our team fights hard every day to support our clients, as well as the thousands of people who contact us each year for assistance and resources, but we need your help to remind our folks inside that there is a whole community that cares about them, and wants to help them heal and come home.

Join us as we draft virtual postcards with messages of love and support! Postcards will be mailed directly to folks inside. Your words of encouragement and solidarity can make an enormous difference - so spend an hour with us as we spread love throughout cells across California!
